Overview

Basic Freediver - Level 1 takes place in a classroom setting followed by confined water (typically a pool) training. While in the classroom, you will learn about the physiology, biology, and physics that make breath holding and freediving possible. You will also learn and discuss freediving safety techniques before moving on to the confined water (pool) session. While in confined water (pool), PADI certified instructor Phillip Mishoe will lead you through breathing and relaxation techniques followed by your static apnea attempts. While one person is diving, your dive buddy is practicing their buddy safety techniques. We will then move on to the safety portion of the pool session, practicing what it means to be at arms length and why it is so important. You will also learn to recognize the signs that your buddy may need assistance and what to do in multiple situations. This will including surface rescue and rescue at, or from depth. You'll finish the day with your dynamic apnea (horizontal swim) attempt.
